La fashion doll Barbie esordisce al Toy Fair di New York nel 1959, conosciuta in tutto il mondo, la bambolina rappresenta la donna nel mondo, diversi mestieri, diverse culture, stilisti hanno realizzato bellissimi vestiti, sono stati pubblicati libri, films e anche per la musica, il gruppo Aqua ha dedicato alla bambola il brano “Barbie girl”, un altro progetto è un documentario sulla storia di Barbie dalle origini per arrivare ai tempi attuali.

La notizia, riportata da Deadline, arriva dal tour stampa della Television Critics Association.

Il documentario sarà diretto da Andrea Nevins, é una retrospettiva sulle origini della bambola e ciò che rappresenta,

Ci saranno interviste e contributi di professionisti di Mattel, come Gloria Steinem, Roxane Gay o Peggy Orenstein, ma anche documenti storici, testimonianze di come si è evoluta la Barbie dagli anni '50.

La bambolina Barbie veniva venduta nel 1959 per tre dollari, la stessa Barbie è stata aggiudicata per 3.552,50 dollari su eBay nel 2004 ne ha fatto di strada questa fashion doll o meglio dire la Mattel

Nel 1945 a El Segundo, vicino a Los Angeles, una piccola fabbrica inizia a creare accessori per bambole, è la Mattel Toys. Viaggiando in Europa, Ruth Handler trova in un giornale tedesco “Bill Zeitung”, un personaggio dei fumetti, una bambolina carina Lili disegnata da Max Weissbradt nel 1955 e decide così di proporla alla Mattel

Nel 1959, Barbie viene presentata al New York Toy Fair, con un costume da bagno bianco e nero in jersey, occhiali da sole e sandalini, conquista il mondo insieme ad altre bellissime bamboline, Midge, Casey, Francie, Christie, Steffie, Teresa, Skipper e tante altre

Si va dallo stile Ponytail (1959/1966) al periodo Mod (1967/1972) e a quelle più moderne

Rappresentano diversi tipi di donna, il filmato “The fabolous vintage fashion show” è una meravigliosa sfilata di bamboline rare “dalle più semplici alle più sofisticate e Barbie canta anche “Beyond the pink” “Oltre il rosa” pubblicato dalla Sony Wonder Music

Il Museo della Barbie è stato realizzato da un’insegnante e collezionista, Carla Visconti che sta catalogando tutte le Barbie raccolte, saranno esposte al terzo e quarto piano del Museo in Corso Racconigi 122 a Torino

“WITH BARBIE IN THE WORLD”
